  4.     RESIGNED. Alan Robbins, 48, consummate dealmaker and veteran
  5. Democratic California state senator; after consenting to plead
  6. guilty to federal corruption charges and to cooperate with
  7. prosecutors in their two-year probe of corruption in the state
  8. capital. Robbins agreed to a five-year prison term and a
  9. $250,000 fine. He will also be disbarred from practicing law.
  10. Robbins confessed to committing a $52,800 tax fraud, extorting
  11. more than $200,000 from a developer and taking $30,000 in
  12. bribes.
